Automatic Weather Stations - Rarotonga

MetService have a variety of automated weather stations throughout New Zealand (Over 200!) and an ever increasing amount of stations located in the pacific islands. These stations allow them to collect accurate data for forecasting, aiding critical areas such as aviation.

At the heart of the weather stations are telemetry and power. Ventech’s enclosures safeguard and protect these critical components. These enclosures dot the outer lying islands of Rarotonga and contain the core components of the automated weather stations. The stations have solar charged batteries for off-grid power when required, offering year round resilience even in cyclonic conditions.

We worked closely with MetSerivce to ensure that the station enclosures were precisely configured to their needs, with dedicated cable entries, an internal removable plate for installation and service, and 4 vents to ensure sufficient airflow whilst keeping the internals safe from the elements.
