Frankton Air Quality Station

The Frankton air quality station enclosure is a part of a network of reference stations that continuously measure the amount of particulate matter in the air. This helps track potentially dangerous particulate matter less than 10 microns in diameter.

Home heating and other combustion sources can output these particulates and can cause health issues in humans.

The site itself consists of a sensor halfway up the mast pictured, and a weather station at the top. The Ventech Systems IP66 custom built enclosure has a door on each side which allowed the Otago regional council to partition the enclosure in two – one side for power mains, and the other side for data logging and telemetry equipment. All kept secure and out of the harsh elements of New Zealand’s south.
